RECORDER

A magyar zajzenei színtér egyik régi motorosa, Rovar17 és a viszonylag új szereplő (a Lombikban is játszó) Xpldnglke közös kazettájának címe Miracles Of Orbanistan. De nincs rajta közvetlen politizálás, már ha a számcímeket nem számítjuk - van egy olyan is, hogy Fire Burns Through The Cathedral Of Felcsút. (Meg egy olyan, hogy Elbaszták a mosogatást.) Nyugtalanító, zajos-zörgős drone ambient, időnként beazonosíthatatlan emberi hangokkal, és erős hangulattal, aminek a cím csak egyik feloldása, általánosabban is értelmezhető. A legtorzabb a vége, a felcsúti katedrálisról szóló nagyszabású zajszimfónia. (R.A.)

DarkUndergroundMusicZine

Rovar17 and Xpidnglke are 2 solo noise artists from Italy and on this recording they team up together and mix there 2 different styles and this is a review of their 2019 collaboration album "Miracles Of Orbanistan" which was released by Unsigned.
Harsh noises and programmed beats start off the album while all of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. Elements of electronic music can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording along with some dark ambient soundscapes in the background and demonic voices can also be heard briefly.
At times the music also gets very experimental and avant garde sounding along with one track also adding in some electronic spoken word parts. Loops are also mixed into certain sections of the songs while all of the songs also sound very different from each other and as the album progresses a brief use of pianos can also be heard.
Rovar17 and Xpidnglke team up together and mix their 2 different approaches to the noise genre to create something very different along with some touches of dark ambient and industrial while the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding collaboration album between Rovar17 and Xpidnglke and if you are a fan of noise, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Extended Stereo Effect" and "Fire Burns Through The Cathedral of Felcsut". 8 out of 10.

Vital Weekly

Orbanistan is no doubt a comment on the current state of the democracy in Hungary, shining bright if you agree with its prime minister and not if you are Jew, gay, lefty or otherwise engaged in different political direction. Rovar17 has seen various releases reviewed in these pages and I had
not heard of Xpidnglke before. They are both credited with 'electronics', whatever they are. The political content doesn't show that much in the music, which is all-instrumental; even the titles don't reflect that, but I could be wrong of course. The electronics at work here are mostly samples and electronics, I would think and it results in a fine web of sounds, not say of a bit louder, noisier excursion, but not exclusively focused on brutal distortion. It surely owes to the world of industrial
music. The sound is dense and abstract, but also quite colourful, or even psychedelic. It is massive music that sticks right in your brain, certainly when you play it loud enough. There is fine ambience, pleasant noise and makes you escape the daily mad world. I am not sure if that is something they go for, but why not? (FdW)

THOUGHTS WORDS ACTION

Miracles Of Orbanistan are reflecting the contemporary political climate in Hungary which has been disguised by the veil of autocratic democracy, mainly because of the extreme policies of Hungarian prime minister. However, this material indicates the Hungarian political condition through the album title, while the compositions are obtaining other, more abstract themes. Both projects are coming from Budapest and Rovar17 is a widely known experimental project with dozen of exceptional recordings and even more live performances across the globe. Xpldnhglke has been present on the noise scene for ages, but somehow I’ve missed his recordings. Miracles Of Orbanistan is their collaborative effort which has been displayed through five experimental avant-garde compositions varying from the fundamental school of experimental noise to the more ambient/drone experimentations with various sound sources. These compositions are mainly comprised of repetitive hypnotic loop sequences, field recordings, radio static, various sound sources, and loads of very dynamic noise segments. Both artists used time-stretched recordings to obtain a very eerie ambient sound, drone sections are insignificantly distorted, so they fulfill these recordings with massive lo-fi vibrations. The entire album sounds as organized noise machinery, the firmness of the sound is completely satisfying and it seems that both Rovar17 and Xpldnglke properly planned and rehearsed their collaborations way ahead of their recording sessions. Miracles Of Orbanistan could easily serve as a perfect soundtrack for some experimental horror movie, because of the eerie atmosphere that pervades the entire record. The loops are playing the central role in these sessions, repetitions are acting as a foundation to the rest of the presented experimentations, so these loops are a gamechanger and nothing would sound compact without them. Miracles Of Orbanistan has been published on five different audio cassettes by Unsigned, an experimental record label from Budapest. This is a very limited publication, but it’s also available digitally at the Unsigned’s Bandcamp page for one euro, so go ahead and support the incredible work of these prominent experimental artists and a very prolific recording label.

IDWAL FISHER

Via the Unsigned label comes more wailing and gnashing of teeth courtesy of a collaboration between Italian noise merchants Rovar17 and Xpldnglke. A single sided five tracks worth of Industrial landscapes, brooding menace, drone, dub-like reverb and the scattered flotsam, jetsam and detritus that you’ll find in many a noise related release. Both players are credited with ‘electronics’ which tells me nothing. Some of it is self-indulgent and wearying and I don’t recall having a moment where my knees went weak or I felt the urge to break open the thesaurus, but it passed on a pleasant 40 minutes or so.
